I had a question at the end of the chapter even though i saw the movie it was still interesting when it said they had looked the same for 85 years
At the end of the chapter the book had said "for Mae Tuck, and her husband, and Miles and Jesse, too, had all looked exactly alike for the last eighty seven years." When I read that I had an inference that there was something special about the Tucks.
I made a connection with Mr.Tuck because when I get up in the morning I'm always telling people to let me sleep a little longer and I can get a little grumpy. -shirasimone
One question I had was on page 9. The question was," Who is Mae's husband?" A couple of sentences later it said that Mae's husband was Tuck and the title of the book is "Tuck Everlasting."
I had a question where it was saying about all the clothes Mae was putting on. I wondered why she was putting on so much clothes at the beginning of August, one of the hottest months of the year. Maybe she was just trying to make an impression on Miles and Jesse.
I ha question about the sentence that said they have looked the same for 87 years. What does that mean"? does it mean they look the same as like there oldness?
I had a vizulization when Mae Tuck pulled up her short leather boots. I could visualize her putting on her boots. I also had a connection because I have leather boots just like Mae Tuck. I made a connection and a visulization. Page #11
On page 11 I connected to the really cold days when you can't get out of bed. It was probably the same with Mr. Tuck, he didn,t want to get out of bed so early. But if he only see's his sons once in every ten years, he should care more.
I had a question on page 9-10 about when Tuck was telling Mae that he had a dream about them in heaven and never knowing about Treegap. I was wondering why he had liked the dream about him and his family being in heaven and not ever knowing about Treegap. It doesn't really make make sense for a man with two sons and a wife to want to go to heaven.
I could visualize Tuck smiling in his sleep with his teeth all brown and chipped and him murmuring something to himself it was quite an inspiring image. He was in a dark lavender brown bed with covers that had trees on them. His room was tiny though just barely enough room for his bed and a table.
In the beginning of every chapter, there is this weird symbol right underneath the chapter. What is it? Why is it there? Does it mean something? Questions and answers pop up ever where.
I had a big question at the end of chapter 2 when it said,"For MAe Tuck, and her husband, and MIles and Jessie, too, had all looked exactly the same for 87 years." How is this possible? Does this have something to do with the stranger in the prologue? Does this have to do with everlasting?...
Rossumrome says... I had a connection on page 9 chapter 2. There was the word "melancholy" in a sentence and I remember that it was one of our Vocab words. I didn't know what the word meant at first, but good thing Mr. Bunting put it on the Vocab list so I now know what it is! It means depressed.
page 11 inference in the story mae said that see was going to treegap to pick up the boys that see had not seen for 10 years i made a inferences that when see goes to treegap some thig is going to happen to her like she is going to get lost.
I had 2 questions on page 12. 1: Why have Mae,Tuck,Miles, and Jesse looked the same for 87 years? and 2: Why does Mae's reflection cease to intrest her?
I had a question on page 9-10. When Tuck woke up and said "I was having that dream again..." I wondered if this was important because it said that he has had this dream before. I hope to find it is important because it seemed exiting and would make a good story.
Bigphillip says:I had a question while I was reading the sentance that said:"Tuck almost never smiled except in sleep." I wanted to know why dousen't he smile when he is awake, doun't anything or anyone make him happy or laugh.
I had a question on page 9 where it said "' The boys'll be home tomorrow!'" My question was where were the boys because 10 years seem like along time so I was wondering where could they have gone. That was my question.
I had a question on page 11. It was when it said "It was the one pretty thing she owned and she never went anywhere without it." My question is why doesnt she leave anywhere without the music box? I tried to answer my question and came up with 3 possible answers.
answer 1:it had some kind of special value.
answer 2:it held a great memory. or answer 3:she takes it because its the only pretty thing she owns.
I had a question right after it was telling about all the clothes Mae was putting on. I didn’t know why she was putting on so many clothes if it was the first week of August, when it was so hot outside. Maybe she was just trying to make an impression on Miles and Jesse.
on page 10, as mae tuck was saying she would visit miles and jesse, i questioned why miles and jesse could live in treegap but she could not? did less people know of/remember Mae? i also wondered wethermaes huband was naed Tuck Tuck or is he just called by his last name?????

In chapter 2 page 10 line 3 i had a inference when it said Mae sat there frowning, a great potato of a woman. I had a inference thinking she was fat like a potato.
I had a prediction and a connection on the end of the 12th page. The quote was for "Mae Tuck, her husband and Miles and Jessie too, they had all looked the same for the last 87 years." My prediction was that the reason mae tuck and her family had looked the same for 87 years probably had to do something with the stream.
I had a question at the end of the chapter. What does it mean when it says that they looked the same for 78 years? Does it mean that they are special or long living?
homersimsonohms said... In chapter 2 page 10 line 3 i had a inference when it said Mae sat there frowning, a great potato of a woman. I had a inference thinking she was fat like a potato. I had a question when the author said "the same for 87 years", then I suddenly thought what if that is why the book is called everlasting. Good Questions Scissor hands. Doesn't that make it hard to type?
At the end of Chapter 2, I had a question about why Mrs. Tuck had looked the same way for 85 years. I thought that maybe something happened to her that made her live forever.
bubbafranks, I liked how you ended your think aloud with a lot of predictions. I thought that was really good because not only did you have a BIG question, you put your mind to it! ~rossumrome
Catapillerastronaut I totally agree with both your statements. The first about getting up in the morning on really cold days and the second caring about seeing your kids if you only see them once every ten years.
Catapillerastronau's Think Aloud: On page 11 I connected to the really cold days when you can't get out of bed. It was probably the same with Mr. Tuck, he didn,t want to get out of bed so early. But if he only see's his sons once in every ten years, he should care more.
I was totally thinking the same thing as BASEBALL77 said but i thoguht that they wust of been under a spell or something, so i thoguht he had a great think aloud

My question was where were the boys because 10 years seem like along time so I was wondering where could they have gone. That was my question. I agree Sadie. It was strange that they were gone so long, and why would Mae Tuck be only able to see them every 10 years?(catapillar astronaut)
Chap 2 responses I think this responses are really good. very thoughtful and positive. great work, class!

Interesting, I noticed many others had the same idea.
Good question Pretty California! I was wondering the same thing but when I read the back I kind of knew what they were talking about. It got kind of confusing.
On page 12, Chapter 2, I had a question. It says, "For Mae Tuck, and her husband, and Miles and Jesse too, had all looked exactly the same for 87 years." I was wondering, how could they have looked the same for that long.

I had a question right after it was telling about all the clothes Mae was putting on. I didn’t know why she was putting on so many clothes if it was the first week of August, when it was so hot outside. Maybe she was just trying to make an impression on Miles and Jesse.
Not sure it entered the first time, eh crabcake!

That is an interesting question.

On page 11 I could really visualize Mae Tuck putting all that clothes on like the "rusty brown shirt" or an "enormous pocket"

I had a question at the end of the chapter. What does it mean when it says that they looked the same for 78 years? Does it mean that they are special or long living?

I think that's a good inference, though I think the metaphor is a bit richer than that.

Good job, but did it help you understand Mae and what kind of a person she was?

Excellent question? What do you think?

Edward Scissorhands
I had a question when the author said
"the same for 87 years", then I suddenly thought what if that is why the book is called everlasting.
Good Questions Scissor hands. Doesn't that make it hard to type?
At the end of Chapter 2, I had a question about why Mrs. Tuck had looked the same way for 85 years. I thought that maybe something happened to her that made her live forever.
bubbafranks,
I liked how you ended your think aloud with a lot of predictions. I thought that was really good because not only did you have a BIG question, you put your mind to it!
~rossumrome
Great question ottoroxy. I made the same one and it really helped me understand the story and I hope it did for you as well.
my response:
hello hi, that's an interesting prediction, especially since there are a lot of books where a character gets lost when they're trying to get somewhere
shirasimone,
Nice connection!I always feel the same exact way when i wake up in the morn!
good job baseball77
I also thought that there was something special about the Tucks.
Great job shirasimone! I feel exactly the same. My parents are always bugging me to get up and I get grumpy as well.
I was totally thinking the same thing as BASEBALL77 said but i thoguht that they wust of been under a spell or something, so i thoguht he had a great think aloud
boblee says nice job crazy jay i was wondering the same thing
Nice question Sadienewton!
Where do you think they are?
Great question softballgirl07! When I was reading that page I also had a question just like that!

I had a question on page 9 where it said "' The boys'll be home tomorrow!'" My question was where were the boys because 10 years seem like along time so I was wondering where could they have gone. That was my question.
I agree Sadie. It was strange that they were gone so long, and why would Mae Tuck be only able to see them every 10 years?(catapillar astronaut)
Dear shirasimone
I understand your connection and feel the exactsame way about getting up in the morning and asking for more time to sleap like Tuck did.
hello hi, I had the same thought about what was going to happen to Mae Tuck when she got to treegap.
Chap 2 responses
I think this responses are really good. very thoughtful and positive. great work, class!

Interesting, I noticed many others had the same idea.
Crabcake, I think that your question is really well formatted and it's a great question.
Catapillar astronout I thought your conection was good. when you wrote it did you Know it was going to snow?
baseball77, you made a great inference! Good job!!! --prettycalifornia
Vid Gorton says...
I also had the same question baseball77. Nice job on the think aloud by the way.
BASEBALL77 RESPONDING TO SHIRASIMONE
I too need a little more sleep in the morning
ice cream
I had a question on page 9 when mae woke him up from the dream my question was does he have dreams everyday?
nip mip pook kook I liked your think aloud because I had the same idea I can imagine him sleeping with a smile on his face.
I had a question on page 15 my question was when she said that they hardly let her out the house I said why don't they let her out the house.
Good question Pretty California! I was wondering the same thing but when I read the back I kind of knew what they were talking about. It got kind of confusing.
good job baseball77 that was confusing to me too but keep reading and see what happens
On page 12, Chapter 2, I had a question. It says, "For Mae Tuck, and her husband, and Miles and Jesse too, had all looked exactly the same for 87 years." I was wondering, how could they have looked the same for that long.

Nice comment Crabcake. It is a little odd that someone would wear that many clothes in summer. But back then I'm sure that's what everyone else did.
