I had a connection where Winnie said "All right! I'm coming!!" Sometimes I'll call my sister up for dinner or something, and she won't come for about 5 minutes. Then I'll say "Susannah!! Come UP!!" And she'll scream "I'M COMING!!!!!!!!"
I made a prediction on page 14 when Winnie said " If I had a sister or a brother..." I realized that there was May's story going on and Winnie's story. I predicted that one of May's children will become like Winnie's brother or sister. This would be a great way to connect the storys and I hope it comes true.

I could really visualize Winnie talking to the large toad on page 13 in chapter 3. I pictured a green large toad staring at Winnie listening to her. I pictured Winnie with her hands on her chin, facing the toad with an convincing expression on her face of running away. Another reason why I could really visualize Winnie and the toad was because on the cover of my book, there is a picture of a girl holding a toad. I thought that the girl must be Winnie and the toad was the one she was talking to.

I had a question on page 15. Why was Winnie Foster talking to a toad? Maybe she dosen't have anything else to do, and why is her family so strict that she wants to run away?

Connection
"At noon of that same day in the first week of August, Winnie Foster sat on the bristly grass...". I also sit on the pointy grass near my house. When I do not have anything to do I sit and gaze at the beautiful sky.
Nice visualization starmoonohms. I liked the way you described how you thought the cottage looked!

One connection I had was on page 15when Winnie wanted a name that wasn't "worn out." Sometimes I feel that way when I don't want to be bothered or talked to.
When Winnie was talking to the toad about running away I predicted that she really would run away and to the Tucks house because at the beginning of the book they said three things that were strangly connected. I still think that but I am not sure because anything that will happen later has not happened yet.
I had a prediction on the middle of the 13th page. It said Winnie was outside sitting next to a toad and I noticed there is a girl with a toad on the cover. I thought it might be the same person and the same toad. I also thought they might be the main characters because they were on the cover.
On page 13-14 I could really visualize Winnie throwing pepples at the toad and totally missing and running through the cloud of gnats.

On page 13, in the first paragraph, Winnie says,"I will, though. You'll see." I wondered, what is she talking about? I will what? I read the whole chapter and did not find the answer.
boblee says I made a connection when at the beginning of each chapter the book starts with the same day of august at a different part of the day.
I had a question on page 13.
It was when it said "I will, though. You'll see.Maybe even first thing tomorrow, while everyone's still asleep."
My question was what does Winnie want to do first thing tomorrow?
I had one answer to my question and it was that she wanted to run away from her home.
bubbafranks: I had a visualization on when the toad "gave a heave of muscles and plopped its heavy mudball of a body a few inches farther away from her[Winnie]." I imagined the toad being really lazy because it sounded like in that sentence and the others before it, the toad wouldn't do anything when Winnie talked to him. I also saw the toad being really fat becasuse it says that it has a "heavy mudball of a body."
In chap. 3 I had a question about Winnie. Why is she talking to a toad? Is she bored or is it just that she doesn't have anyone else to talk to?
On page 14 I had a visualization where Winnie was talking to the toad. I could see he talking to the toad in my mind. It also made me think of a connection where I did that to my cat.
I had a connection when Winnie's mother firmly stated it was time to come in. When Winnie answered in a annoyed tone "All right!I'm coming" It reminded me of I tried to read a book but my mother kept interuppting so you start getting erratated and annoyed.
(I also have a question about what time period it is?)
To pacifiereater:
1.I think they drank something that gave the Tucks eternal life. I got this clue by reading the back of the book.
2.Well if your face stayed the same for 87 years, would you be still interested to look at your face you know very well for 87 years?
In Chapter 3, I had a question about why there were no other living things on the side of the fence that Winnie was in. I thougth that maybe whoever owned the house and the property didn't allow any animals in their yard.
On chapter 3 page13 line 4 I had a inference when Winnie Foster started talking to a toad she must not have many friends in the cottage. Because she would talk to a toad for company.
