Chap 6 Kidnapped!

What a pleasant family, but kidnapping isn't nice. Why would they do such a thing? Share your connections, questions, visualizations, summaries and syntheses, inferences and predictions.

I had a connection on page 31 of chapter 6. Winnie said that she pictured kidnappers as a group of burly men who would carry her off like a sack of potatoes. I always thought of kidnappers like that but was surprised to find that The Tucks kidnapped her! I wonder what they're going to do next!

On page 36 at the end of the chapter, I had a question about what Jesse Tuck was going to tell Winnie Foster.

Paragraph:3
Question
Bigphillip says:
While I was reading this page I many thouts ran through my head one of these thouts was a question.
On the sentance that said: "If you'd ... yelled or anything someone might've heard you and ... that's too risky". I wondered why Jesse was afraid for someone to hear her yell, why did he say that it was to risky.

At the end of the chapter, when they were telling Winnie that they need her help, I predicted that they would give her a difficult task or maybe send her on a long journey to get something that would stop them from being everlasting. I don’t know why they would ask a kid to do that, though.

I had a visualization at the end of the 26th page. My visualization that i could picture Jessie Tuck perfectly as he knelt down to drink from the stream. I also had a feeling that Jessie had some connection to the stream.

on page 36 I Question.
Quote: you got to help us. Come sit down, and we'll try to tell you why.

the Question is, Why do they need help they need help.

One question I had on page 32 is why does the Tuck family have to take Winnie far away to tell her their story? I figured that it was probably so no one else could hear their secret.

Bubbafranks says,

When the music box started playing and Winnie said,”When I get home, ill tell granny it wasn’t elf music at all.” I had a prediction. My prediction was that Winnie would never go back to her home. This prediction made me think that Winnie would end up really liking the Tuck’s.

I had a Question on page # 36, on the last sentence.I asked why the Tucks wanted Winnie to help them and why they wanted to help her.I thought maybe they wanted her to find a cure to there everlasting life. They could also want Winnie to contact somebody in the town.

I had a visualization on page 32 when Winnie thought to herself "I better duck if I don't want this next branch to hit me". I Visualized her sitting on a filthy horse with the Tucks who I visualized with tatterd clothing and her wearing an expensive beautifal dress, and then I pictuered her ducking under the branch just in time

i forget which page this is on but when mae tuck was running and trying to talk at the same time i connected with that because in soccer or other sports you kinda have to yell "i'm open" and run fast at the same time.

On page 33 I had a question about why Winnie didn't kick, scream or do something when she saw the man in the yellow suit. I have only read to the end of chapter six so I am still not sure but I think it is because she likes the Tucks, even though they kidnapped her.

I had a prediction in the middle of the 32nd page. "The quote was we will explain once were far enough away." My prediction was that the Tuck family clearly did not want other people to hear their story. I was sure they did not want that to happen because they kidnapped winnie and ran away with her.

On pg. 33 I had a prediction. When they were running with the horse and they see the man in the yellow, I had a prediction that he was going to try and follow them or something because I had an inference that the Tucks was the family that he was looking for.

I synthesized on page 34 where it siad, "Yes it was the same music she heard the night before." I sythesized that since it was the Tuck families music box, than when Winnie met Jesse in the wood, he had been there all along since the night before. when I sythesized that it helped me understand the part of the story better.

I had a question on page 32. When Winnie was talking to herself when she was riding the horse with Jessie, she said "Miles is taller than Jesse." What was that suposed to mean?

On page 31 i had a question. My question was why are Mae and Miles and Jesse just as alarmed as Winnie was?
I tried to answer my question and my answer was that they were afraid that someone might see them or hear them.

I could visualize Winnie riding the fat horse and Jesse and Miles and Mae Tuck running next to her and in front of her all scared and tired.

When Angus Tuck carved 'T' into the tree it stayed the same and the tree didn't cover the carved spot. But when Mr.Tuck shot himself there were no traces of it. How come the T didn't go into the tree like the bullet did into Mr.Tuck?

I had a question on chapter six. why would the tucks want to kidnap winnie?

Anonymous said...

at the bottom aof page 35 mae said dear child, its only a music box.
i infered that this was the music they had heard in chapter 4,oly grandmother said it was correct. i wondered if winnie would get to tell her it was the box. how can she do it w/o giving away the tucks secret?

On page 31, I was wondering why the Tuck family kidnapped Winnie. THey seemed to be a nice family so far so why would they want to kidnap her?
