Chapter 20:

On page 104, I had a question. I didn't know why Tuck was so afraid about Mae going to the gallows, because Mae wouldn't be able to die because the spring ade it so the Tucks couldn't get hurt or die.

Chapter 22:

I had a "determining what's important" when Jesse gave her the water from the spring. So now Winnie has some of the water! I wonder how she's going to use it. I hope she doesn't drink it, but that's just my opinion.

I had an inference on page 122 where it said "The storm was moving nearer," that the constable or a guard would find them, but then he/she would be struck by lightning, and the Tucks would get away.

I had a connection on page 128, where it said Winnie was trying not to cough. Sometimes, I have a cough, and I try to keep myself from coughing, my throat gets all ticklish, and it's very hard not to cough. I really liked this book. I've finished it now! Except for the epilogue.

Epilogue:

I had a summarize for the whole book at the very end. Okay, here we go:

Mae Tuck went out one day to meet her kids. Winnie thought about running away. One night, a man in a yellow suit comes up and asks Winnie if she knows everyone at the wood. Winnie says she doesn't. They hear a music box, and the man leaves. The next day, Winnie enters the wood to a place she'd never seen before. She sees a boy drinking from the water. She introduces herself, and begs the boy for some water. The boy and his family take Winnie to their home and tell her their situation about the spring causing them to live forever. The man in the yellow suit is eavesdropping. Winnie stays with the Tucks a few days and meanwhile, the man in the yellow suit goes to Winnie's parents, and offers to find her if they give him the wood. They agree, and the man goes to the constable to fetch Winnie. The man gets there first, and talks to the Tucks about his plans to sell the water from the spring. He starts to take Winnie away, but Mae Tuck hits him with a shotgun. The constable arrives and takes Mae to the jailhouse. A few days later, after the constable took Winnie home, Winnie finds out that the man in the yellow suit died, so Mae was going to be hanged. In the middle of the night, a few days later, during a storm, Winnie climbs into the jailhouse and switches places with Mae, and the Tucks get away. Next morning, the constable sees her instead of Mae, and takes her home again. The next day, Winnie gives a bottle of the water from the spring to a toad, who was her friend throughout the book. Many years later, Winnie dies, refusing Jesse's offering to live forever witht the bottle of water from the spring. Mae still hasn't been caught.

Was that too long?

I think Winnie made thight decision.

Great book!!

Chapter 21 page 106

I could picture the puny little rocking chair and it reminded me of a rocking chair that we have in our house. I picture it being brown and worn out and hard to fit yourself into and to rock.

I could picture the toad looking as if there were a drought.. like how it looks with the dried cracks on the Savanah when it's the dry season and I could picture him weazing and slowly dying.

I could picture the curtains drawn but the Sun was still blazing yellow through the curtains because of how hot it was outside and nothing could stop the Sun.

On page 104, i had a Q. I didnt understand why Tuck was affraid about Mae going to the gallows bevcause Mae cant die.Was he scared she was going to get kiddnapped or lost?

Anonymous said...

I have this question; What the heck is tuck afraid of that will happen to Mae, why does he not want her to go? i mean, it's not like she's going to die or get hurt or anything. it's driving me crazy. I can't wait to find out.

Anonymous said...

I had an inference on page 108. when the book says, "But there were new threads now, tugging and insistent, which tied her just as firmly to the Tucks" that the whole "threads theory is kinda like it's refering to a bond, sorta like how a shirt is held together and bonded by threads.

when Jesse gives Winnie water from the spring, I think that she's maybe thinking about drinking it but in the end i'm gonna guess that she isn't.

Anonymous said...

I had an inference when the grandmother said "It was the elves, they must have bewitched her." My inference was that she was wrong because there were no elves. It was just Mae's music box.

Anonymous said...

I had a question at the end of page 115. My question was when Jesse said "Meet me here at midnight." I asked myself how is winnie going to get out? I would think that if winnie got kidnapped once, her parents might get very over protective.

Anonymous said...

I had a prediction in the beginning of page 117. My prediction was that when it said "In the hallway, the grandfather clock started ticking delibretly," I had a prediction. Since that Winnie started to rock to its rhythm, I predicted that she was anxious to get out of the house and save Mae.

I had a connection on page 123. When it said, "Tuck handed up a tool and Miles started to pry at the nails securing the frame." I had aconnection there because pry is one of our new vocab words.

In chapter 22 page 114 I put a star where Jesse gave Winnie some of the water from the spring to drink when she was older. I think it is so important because if Winnie ever drank the water she could live forever.
In chapter 23 on page 120 i ahd a question if Winnie was actually going to save Mae. Would the plan actually work?
In chapter 25 page 130 I had a prediction that the dog was going to eat the toad. Then I was suprised on the next page when Winnie gave the toad the water from the spring.
In the epilogue I had 2 strategies. I had a prediction that Treegap was far into the future. My other strategy was a visulization about Treegap.
(overall I think the book had many twists, turns, and suprises which made it interesting to read and enjoyable!)

Epilog: pages:134 -139
There was a little girl named Winnie and there was a family of 2 boys and a mom and dad.
One day Mae the mom set of to get her 2 sons Jesse and Miles.Winnie was sitting by the fence and a man in a yellow suit said "do you know everyone in the wood?" Winnie said no. Right after the man in the yellow suit leaves her and her family hear music and Winnie's grandmother thought it was elves. The day after that Winnie goes and visits her wood that she's never seen before . When she gets there she sees a boy who she thinks is very cute. She tells the boy her name and was about to drink from the water but the boy said DONT DRINK THAT WATER Winnie said why not its my wood i will drink it if i want to. The boy did not know what to do but for his luck his mom and brother came along. They put Winnie on there horse and took her to their house they tell her what happened with the spring. She was not to tell anyone.Winnie ends up staying at the Tucks house for a couple of days. While Winnie was at the Tucks the man in the yellow suit was eavesdropping and went and told Winnie's family and he offered them a trade he's said i will get you your daughter if you give me your wood. Winnie's family says okay and the man in the yellow suit go off to find Winnie. The man in the yellow suit now knows about the spring so he goes and talks to the Tucks about it and making a business for the spring . the man in the yellow suit try's to take Winnie away but Mae shoots him with a shotgun. The police arrive and ask what happened and Tuck explain and Winnie says that she wanted to come here. Then the Police took Mae to the jail house another police man took Winnie home. the Tucks and Winnie found out that the man in the yellow suit died. Then in the middle of the night the Tucks and Winnie were going to get Mae out of jail. The plan was to get Mae out and put Winnie in. the next morning the police see that Winnie had taken Maes place and he brought her home again . Then the day after that Winnie takes the bottle of the spring and sees that the toad is not safe and she pours the water on the toad. Years after the Mae and Tuck go to see if Winnie is still alive and if she drank the spring but she diden't. She died over those years.

I think that is a really good book and very interesting!!

Chater 22:
Question

My question was that if winnie swops places with mae tuck then who would get winnie out of jail? Or do the tucks have a plan to get her out. Also who's going to cover for winnie if the tucks don't get winnie out of jail in time and the foster find out?

Anonymous said...

On page 104 I made an inference. When Tuck said "...The gallows?".... "Hanging?" I then thought that hanging wouldn't matter because Mae would live forever. I was wrong because then everyone would find out they would live forever.

Sentence: "It was the longest day: mindlessly hot, unspeakably hot, too hot to even think. The countryside, the village of Treegap, the wood- all lay defeated....The sun was a ponderous circle without edges, a roar without a sound, a lazing glare so thorough and remorseless that even in the Fosters' parlor, with curtains drawn, it seemed an actual presence. you could not shut it out."

Summarizing Tuck Everlasting:
Mae Tuck went out one day to meet her kids. While in the meantime, Winnifred (Winnie) Foster an 11 year old decides to runaway. She eventually runs away from her overprotective family and One night, a man in the yellow suit comes up to her and asks if she knows everyone at the wood. Winnie says she doesn't.But that her grandmother would. They hear a music box, and the man leaves. The next day, Winnie enters the wood to a place she'd never seen before. She introduces herself to a boy at the spring and asked for some water he took her to his house and his family told them about the situation that they found out, they could live forever if they drank water from the spring. She ends up staying in their house and basically being part of the family but one day the man in the yellow suit came back to the tucks house this time and said that he wanted the fosters wood and the spring. the fosters took a ride into town the next morning and talked about it more with winnie. Unfortunitally the man in the yellow suit heard every word they said and that he would buy the spring and sell it to " certain (special) people that deserve to live forever. mae said they wouldn't be demonstration and he starts to take Winnie away, but Mae Tuck hits him with a shotgun. The constable arrives and takes Mae to the jailhouse. A few days later, after the constable took Winnie home, Winnie finds out that the man in the yellow suit died, so Mae was going to be hung.In the middle of the night a few days later during a storm, Winnie climbs into the jailhouse and switches places with Mae, and the Tucks get away. The Next morning the constable sees her instead of Mae and they take her home again. then when she gets home she gives her friend, the toad someof the water so that he wont get run over and die. this way the toad will live forever*. Many years later, Winnie dies, choosing not to go with Jesse's offering to live forever.by drinking a bottle of water from the spring. And Mae still hasn't been caught.
*was it a good idea maybe but it seems like thebook starts all over again with the toad!

On page 101 of chapter 20, I could really visualize Winnie with her arms wrapped around Tuck. Right away, I could see her frightened face without Natalie Babbitt even showing it. I pictured her cheaks pink and her eyes squeezed shut. She was breathing heavily and didn't want to look at anything.

On page 109 of chapter 21, I thought that when the constable said that the man in the yellow suit was dead, it was really important. The reason why it's good is that then he wouldn't let anyone else know about the spring. But what would happen to Mae? If Mae were to be hanged, then she still wouldn't die. So then the people will know about the spring. I had a lot of these thoughts running through my head at the time I read this!

I had a connection on page 111 in chapter 22. It was a really hot day and dry. When Babbitt said "the slightest exertion broughton a flood of perspiration, an exhaustion in the joints." I really liked how she said that especially the vocabulary. That made me think of the hot days here in the summer. It can get really hot!

On page 117 of chapter 23, I had a connection with Winnie. I remember when I was little and it was too quiet to even concentrate. At first, you would think it was too loud and you wanted everything to be silent. But then it was too quiet! I find that now, I can work best when everything is quiet!

On page 123 of chapter 24 I had a question. My question was if the constable would find out about the Tucks saving Mae. This got me thinking, I thought that he wasn't going to find out and that the Tucks would leave to a faraway place. I'll read more to find out!

On page 129 of chapter 25 I could really visualize the constable. He was cheerful at first and whistling but when he saw Winnie, his face turned bright red with anger. I liked how Babbitt said that he was really cheerful in the beginning because it showed how angry he was when he saw Winnie.

On page 139 of the Epilogue, I had a connection. I remembered the toad from before and how Winnie poured the water from the spring on it. At the end of the book, I was surprised that Winnie didn't drink from the spring!

In chapter 24 I could visualize the constables face when he saw Winne under the covers.

In the Epilogue I had a connection to Tuck when he saw Winnie's grave. He must have felt like "so thats what happened"

Well nice meetin' you on Team 6-4. Au revoir et Bonnes vacances! (Goodbye and have a great vacation.)
