Chapter 11:
I had a connection where it said "as long as there was food to eat, there was no conversation. All the time, I'm trying to gulp down the delicious nodles that are on my plate, and when my parentssk me how my day was, I either keep stuffing pasta into my mouth, or start talking about my day when I haven't yet swallowed my pasta. It usually ends withmy parents screaming, "CHEW WITH YOUR MOUTH CLOSED!!"
I could picture the red and orange sunset over the horizon reflecting off the pond making a pink and yellow kind of light that reflected on the trees making it like some kind of happy pony land.
Page:56 Paragraph:1 Visualization Bigphillip says: As I was reading this book the following sentence created a picture in my head."It was a good supper, flapjacks, bacon, bread, and applesause, but they ate sitting about in the parlor instead of around the table". I saw how the whole familly was eating around the living room. Some people were sitting on couches others on the ground.
I had an inference at the end of the chapter, where Miles said "Somebody stole the horse" I inferred that it was the in the yellow suit. That guy is starting to get mysterious. On the next page, I then found that it was the man in the yellow suit.
When the man in the yellow suit said "I know where they've taken the girl", I predicted this man was evil and wanted Winnie out of the way so he could do something to the Tucks. Maybe he'd announce the spring to other people, and he wants information.
Chapter 12 Page:60 Paragraph:1 Connection Bigphillip says: While I was reading this book the following sentancemade me remembered something that happened one day, in my life."The sky was ragged blaze of red and pink and orange, and its double trembled on the surface of the pond like color silled fram a paintbox". I reamember how one day I went to a pod with my class and I saw multiple colers, just like in the sentance.
Chapter 13 Page:66 Paragraph:1 Question Bigphillip says: As I was reading this book I thought about the following sentance. "I know where they've taken the little girl." I wondered why would he tell them this, is he going to bribe them for money or something els?
Chapter 14 Page:67 Paragraph:4 Visualization Bigphillip says: The following sentance produce a mental picture in my mind. "She was spreading a quilt on the old sofa, making it onto a bed for Winnie." People who make quilts usually put a lot of effort into making the quilt look good.I can imagine the quilt and it's beautifull patterns, shapes and dissines.
I had an inference at the end of at the end of the59th page. The quote was "Well that don't sound too serious, Pa, just a stranger pssing by." My inference is that they were wrong and that the stranger hearing their story WAS a serios matter.
I had a connection in the middle of the 62nd page. The quote was "Its a wheel winnie, everything turning and turning, never stopping." My connection was that when we just started to read this book we talked about three motifs. Wheels was one of the motifs.
I had a prediction at the end of the 66th page. The quote was "Ah good evening! May I come in? I have happy news for you. I know where they have taken your little girl." My prediction was thet he stole the horse so he could ride winnie's grandmother to the tucks house.
Chapter 11: On page 57 I made an inference where it said, "... she would be expected to sleep-all night-in this dirty, peculiar house." My inference was that her house was either very clean or she doesn't like things to be dirty. I infered that because if she was thinking that she probably didn't like dirty things. That was the inference I made.
Chapter 12: I made a prediction on page 65 where it said, "'... Someone's stole the horse.'" My prediction was that the man in the yellow suit stole the horse because before in the chapter or the chapter before they (the family) was talking about him so I thought it must be him who had taken the horse. That was the prediction I made.
Chapter 13: I had a question on page 66 where it said, "... tied the Tucks' old horse..." My question was why in the text does it say the Tucks' old horse because isn't it still their horse and he just took it? That was the question I made.
I could really visualize what Jesse looked like when he was eating supper on page 56. I pictured his face full of eagerness and a smile. Jesse seems like a boy full of ideas. I could also picture everyone else sitting on the floor with their plates in their laps.
I could really visualize the sky and the sun on page 60. I pictured it like the spilled paintbox that Babbitt mentioned with all different colors. The sun was the egg yolk. I remember once when the sky was like that, it was really beautiful!
On page 66 of chapter 13, I had a question. I was wondering what the man in the yellow suit was going to tell Winnie's parents. I thought that maybe he would tell them about the spring but then what would happen to the Tucks? I really hope he won't tell them about the spring because then the Tucks will be in trouble!
On page 70 of chapter 14, I could really visaulize Tuck as he went to go see Winnie. I thought he looked curious and anxious. I also pictured him looking a bit funny in his nightshirt with his hair rumpled.
On page 57 i had a question on why Winnie wanted to go home.I mean she really didnt have social life back home and she was always bored and nothing ever happened in her life.Plus why wouldent she want to stay with the Tucks?
On page 57 i had a question when Winnie said" I want to go home.... Why did she want to go home.I mean she really didnt have social life back home and she was always bored and nothing ever happened in her life.Plus why wouldent she want to stay with the Tucks?
Sentence:The sky was a ragged blaze of red and pink and orange, and its double trembled on the surfce of the pond like color spilled from a paintbox.
I could really visualize all of the colors and the magnificent surface of the pond.I saw the sky as a mix of red orange and light pink all over the sky.I could also see the pond like different colors of paint just splattered of the surface.
I had a question in the middle of the 71st page. The quote was "hey Winnie Foster, you asleep? Jesse was the third person to come down and talk to her. Maybe they felt that Winnie was worried or upset. Now as I think about it Winnie seemed worried that her father might find her.
chapter 11 I had a pridiction when winnie said that she wants to go home my prediction was that they wouldn't let her like try to talk her out of it I was right. Chapter 12 I could really visulize the sky with red and pink painting almost it is like how I paint I blend colors together like that. Chapter 13 I had a infernce that they had been looking for Winnie because the man in the yellow suit said he has info about the little girl. Chapter 14 I had a question when Jesse was offering to have her drink the water when she became 17 that was fast in the movie their relationship grows much more before that it was weird.
chapter 11: i had a question on pg.57. it was what was elation? i think its joy or happyness because in the book it said winnie felt her elation, and thoughtless PLEASURE,wobble and collapse.
chapter 12: i had an prediction/infererence on pg.65. it was that the man in the yellow suit stole the horse because he wanted to see if the story was true because he heard it.
chapter 12: i had an prediction/infererence on pg.65. it was that the man in the yellow suit stole the horse because he wanted to see if the story was true because he heard it.
At the end of page 59 where Mae says that the only reason they brought her to their house was to make her understand about the spring, I had a question. Were they really only bringing for there for that reason, or was there another part to it?
At the end of chap. 12, I had an prediction. I thought that someone was trying to save Winnie(either Winnie's parents or the man with the yellow suit. That led me to think that Winnie was going to change her mind about going home and want to stay with the Tuck's. Maybe forever...
In chap. 13 where it says,"-and before she[Winnie's Grandmother] could speak, the man said quickly..." I had a connection. One time I answered the phone to a telemarketer. Before I could say hi, he started speaking and talking about a health plan or something...
Chap 12: When they were describing how the Tucks ate I inferred that they had nothing to talk about because they seemed to have nothing to say. The auther never really answered mentioned it but I suspect I'm right.
BASEBALL77: chapter 11 when they said "It was a good supper, flapjacks, bacon, bread, and applesauce" I agreed that was a good supper because all of that sounded great.
Chap 12: When the auther was describing the sunset, I had a connection when I woke up early one morning and saw the most beatiful color coming through the glass window. It was beautiful.
I had a prediction when they said someone stole the horse, I thought that the person that stole the horse knew about the water and the Tucks did not know that he or she did.
On page 69 of chap. 14,Where it said that Winnie imagined her parents were looking for her,i had a visualization. I visualized her parents crying and yelling for her to come home:-(
I made a Prediction on why Tuck doesn't want all of the people from Treegap to drink the water, because if they drink the water then the Tuck's will have some friends that are like them and they wouldn't have to keep moving forever.Page#64
I had a question on what the man in the yellow suit was going to do when he knocked at the Fosters gate. I found out that he said to them" I know where they have taken the little girl."Page#66.
I hade a vizulization when she was lying down on the couch thinking about what she said about the Tuck's, she said that they were criminals because they kidnapped her so she felt bad that she thought that, but then she thought again and said that they are kind of like criminals bu she didn't think to harshly of them. Page #68 / 69. I made a vizulization.
Chap.13: When the man in the yellow suit arrived I made and inference that the Fosters were waiting for Winnie so the left their lights on and gate open. I beleive I was right because when the man knocked and the door was immediatly opened I could see that they were expecting someone(Winnie).
I had a connection on page 56 where it said that Jesse was using the seat of the chair as a table. At camp on the last night our counselors get food for us and we eat it together on the floor. Everyone is so happy to eat junk food instead of the camp food. I had a prediction on page 65 where Miles is yelling about there horse being gone. My prediction is the man in the yellow suit took the horse. On page 68 i had a vizualization of the lumpy couch. I could picture the old and lumpy couch with huge bumps in it. I had a connection on page 68 when Winnie said that the pillow was thin, rough, and hard. When I sleptover my grandparent's house the pillow I was using was really thin so I know exactly what Winnie is talking about when she said the pillow wasn't feeling right.
Chap.14 When Jesse was talking about Winnie drinking the stream at 16 or 17 then marrying him and then seeing the world without ever dying I predicted that she would and I don't know if I'm right or wrong but I think that I'll find out soon.
at the top of page 59, when winnie was saying how the the man in the yellow siut had come to her house, i did 4 things:
#1: i infered that this must be a long time ago because people were more open to strangers then(like winnie to mr.yellow suit)
#2 i connected to a book in storylunch, where a girl goes back in time to the 1940s.she acts surprised when she sees a girl be friendly to a creepy guy, i also thought that winnie was being to nice to this yellow guy.
#3 i questioned why the man in the yellow suit was waering the yellow siut still......dont people CHANGE?
#4 i thought it was important that winnie did not mention that the MIYS(man in yellow siut)was looking for a mystery person.......
at the top of page 59, when winnie was saying how the the man in the yellow siut had come to her house, i did 4 things:

#4 i thought it was important that winnie did not mention that the MIYS(man in yellow siut)was looking for a mystery person.......
at the very beginng of chapter12, i could really visualie the sunset(i infered it was a sunset) i couldpicture the red turning into pink then a dusty blue
Chapter 12: I made a visualization on page 70 where it said, "'Well. Try to get some sleep. That...'" I could visualize that part in the book perfectly because my mom says that same sentence to me a lot. When I visualized that part, it made me see that part and understand the book better. So that was my visualization.
Chapter 11: on page 56 I had a visualization of the Tucks having dinner with Winnie, the Tucks are all eating away without napkins and Winnie has a look of disgust on her face, like she's never seen people eat like that before in her life.
Chapter 12-- on page 62 I got a little confused by what Tuck was talking about to Winnie, I couldn't figure out at first how it was related but now I think it was a great way for Natalie Babbitt to write it.
Chapter 11 page56 line 1 I had both a vizualization and a infrence when it said they had a good super flapjacks, bacon, bread, and apple auce I vizuallized all the food and infered that they were full and unhungry.
I sinthesized on page 56 when they were eating. I noticed how it said Winnie said the meal was luxourious. I knew how Winnie felt because only things you dont do alot so I knew why she was feeling that way.
12:
I had a connection on page 62 where everything was a wheel. This was a motif in the begining of the story and now I saw why this was a motif.
13:
On page 66 I had to infer. I infered that when the man in the yellow suit came and told them what they did they were very happy. I knew this because i my child were kidnapped/ran away I wouldbe very worried.
14:
I had a connection on page 68. winnie was complaning about the bed they made for her. I complain about things like that and then my mother calls me her poor little pumpkin.
Chapter 12--I could picture the orange and red sunset off the pond and making a yellow light refletion off the trees. This reminded me of being on a cruise, looking out on the ocean with the orange and red and pink sky and the shimmering water.
Chapter 14-- 1) on page 69 I had an inference where it said "They're probably out looking for me now", I had an inference that she was scared and that the Tucks were really scared also. 2) I also had a prediction that Winnie would grow up to be 17 and she would drink the water and live happily ever after with Jesse Tuck.
Chapter 12 page 61 line 15 I had a question when Tuck started talking about what life is I qwestioned what is he talking about I was completly at loss though I understood what he was talking about I still sortof got lost in all the wierd stuff he said.
Chapter 10--At the beginning of this chapter when it said how neat the Fosters were, I inferred that they must be very demanding when it comes to tidyness and they always want their house looking presentable. Clairewoodward
In chapter 14 1 thought I had was that Jess and Winnie when she was old enough would get married and travel around. The 2nd thought i got was I predict that the man in the yellow is going to tell the Fosters about Winnie
Chapter 13 page 66 line 12 I thought the man telling that he knows were Winnie is. I felt this was important because it made me think that Winnies grandmother would go out and look for here.
I had a question on page 58. Tuck says that he should row Winnie in the rowboat on the pond. But he says that he thinks that there isn't much time. What does he mean? Aren't the Tucks Imortal?
I had a prediction on page 66. The man in the yellow suit said to Winnie's family, "I know where they've taken the girl" , I thought that he was going to do someting bad.
I infered that Tuck really liked having Winnie around because she was a "natural growing child" and that she wasen't imortal. He probably also thinks that she understands the importance of the spring and that she needs to keep the secret safe.
On chapter 14 page 68 I made an inference. When Mae said "You'll sleep first-rate on the sofa here." My inference was the sofa would be pretty bad(e.i rips maybe a stench). I was right.
I had a connection in the begining of chapter 12, where it said "the sky was a ragged blaze of red, pink, and orange. I have seen the sky like this many times when the sun is going down. This happens when it's around 4 or 5 o'clock pm.
In Chapter 11 I had a question when Winnie had to spend the night in the a dirty, peculiar house. On page 52 she said that this house was comfortable and she was charmed but now, she thinks it is dirty and unusual.I think it's because she is now scared.
I had an inference after chapter 13 that the man in the yellow suit was a spy for the Fosters or maybe he was trying to kidnap her but the Tucks got there first
After Jesse said "... stealing their horse right out from under their nose!"on page 67. I had a prediction that the man in the yellow suit was going to come back to steal more things like Winnie.
I had a Connection on page 66 when the man in the yellow suit went to Winnie's door.I remebered that in the Medivel Times if a knight or king was captured, their captors gave them huge ransoms.I have a feeling that the man will demand something in return for Winnie.
I had a Connection in Chapter 14.It is when I had a had a sleep-over with my cousins we always stayed up and talked and played catch. It is like Jesse talkiing to Winnie.
On page 56, I had a question about why they were having pancakes for dinner. I inferred that maybe it was because they didn't have anything else to eat because they were poor.
At the end of the chapter on page 65, I had a question about who stole the horse. I thought that maybe it was the man in the yellow suit but i wan't sure.
I had a question about why the man in the yellow suit stole the Tuck's horse. If he had gotten along so well walking so far why would he take it now. I thought that maybe he just wanted to get to the Foster's house quicker.
I could visualize all of the Tucks coming down the creaky stairs and trying to comfort Winnie. I could imagine them all in their old gowns and night shirts.
I had a connection where it said "as long as there was food to eat, there was no conversation. All the time, I'm trying to gulp down the delicious nodles that are on my plate, and when my parentssk me how my day was, I either keep stuffing pasta into my mouth, or start talking about my day when I haven't yet swallowed my pasta. when I read the part about how as long as there was food to eat there was no conversation, I thought about how every night when my family eats dinner together it's the soung of slurping, crunching, or chewing what's ever on our plates and the occasional "how was your day?" and it's response.
on chapter 12 I'm infering that when miles says "somebody stole our horse" it's probably going to be the only other person we know of in the story that knows where the tucks' live other than themselves and winnie, the man in the yellow suit.

I had a infernce that they had been looking for Winnie because the man in the yellow suit said he has info about the little girl.
Chapter 14
I had a question when Jesse was offering to have her drink the water when she became 17 that was fast in the movie their relationship grows much more before that it was weird.
chapter 11:
i had a question on pg.57.
it was what was elation?
i think its joy or happyness because in the book it said winnie felt her elation, and thoughtless PLEASURE,wobble and collapse.
chapter 12:
i had an prediction/infererence on pg.65.
it was that the man in the yellow suit stole the horse because he wanted to see if the story was true because he heard it.
chapter 12:
i had an prediction/infererence on pg.65.
it was that the man in the yellow suit stole the horse because he wanted to see if the story was true because he heard it.
chapter 13:
i had an inference on pg.66.
it was that the foster family was not asleep because they were worried about winnie.
chapter 14:
i had a connection on pg.68.
it was that if anyone told me a story like that i would think that it was nonsense too.
BASEBALL77:
chapter 11
when they said "It was a good supper, flapjacks, bacon, bread, and applesauce" I agreed that was a good supper because all of that sounded great.
Chap 12: When the auther was describing the sunset, I had a connection when I woke up early one morning and saw the most beatiful color coming through the glass window. It was beautiful.
BASEBALL77:
chapter 12
I had a prediction when they said someone stole the horse, I thought that the person that stole the horse knew about the water and the Tucks did not know that he or she did.
On page 69 of chap. 14,Where it said that Winnie imagined her parents were looking for her,i had a visualization. I visualized her parents crying and yelling for her to come home:-(
BASEBALL77:
chapter 13
I had a visualization when they said the man in the yellow suit got of the Tucks horse and went to open the gate.
BASEBALL77:
chapter 14
I had a question about wether or not Winnie would drink the water or not
I made a connection whenevr I have pancakes, waffles,or something like that I love to lick the syrup off my fingers.Page#56

I had a question to why was Tuck aways so happy to see her and be with her.
at the very beginng of chapter12, i could really visualie the sunset(i infered it was a sunset) i couldpicture the red turning into pink then a dusty blue
Chapter 12:
I made a visualization on page 70 where it said, "'Well. Try to get some sleep. That...'" I could visualize that part in the book perfectly because my mom says that same sentence to me a lot. When I visualized that part, it made me see that part and understand the book better. So that was my visualization.
I ment chapter 14 when I wrote on December 17, 2007
at the begining of chap. 13, i infered the miys's horse was the tucks horse that he had stolen it .i infered ha was tha theive in chap12 to.
I had a question on page 56. Why would you eat flapjacks and bacon for dinner. That something you'd eat for breakfast.
I had a connection on page 64 when they said "Winnie, struggling with all the anguish..." that was one of our vocab words.
On page 66 I had a prediction, this is defeneteley the man who wants to sell the spring water.
On page 70 I could really visualize the sofa she slept on. Lumpy and gross. Smelled like old newspapers. Ugh.
On the first page of chapter 11(page 56) I had a question. What are flapjacks? I do though have a thought and I think there pancakes.
On chapter 12 page 62 I had a connection to the water rising to the air and getting droped back into the streams. In other words the water cycle.
On chapter 13 I had a prediction that they'll rescue her but she will be sad because of that and the Tucks will be jailed.
onpage 70 when tuck said hed only be a holler away i made a connection with the police at cowlick who also said they were a holler away.
11:
Clairewoodward
Chapter 13 page 66 line 12 I thought the man telling that he knows were Winnie is. I felt this was important because it made me think that Winnies grandmother would go out and look for here.
Chapter 14 page 67 line 9 I sortof had a question when Tuck when tuck had a question I wondered what the question was?
Vid Gorton says...
Chapter 11
I had a question on page 58. Tuck says that he should row Winnie in the rowboat on the pond. But he says that he thinks that there isn't much time. What does he mean? Aren't the Tucks Imortal?
Vid Gorton says...
Chapter 12
I had a visuilization on page 60. The book described the sunset on the pond like the cors spilling out of a paintbox. I could really visuilize that.
Vid Gorton says...
Chapter 13
I had a prediction on page 66. The man in the yellow suit said to Winnie's family, "I know where they've taken the girl" , I thought that he was going to do someting bad.
Vid Goton says...
Chater 14
Page 70
I infered that Tuck really liked having Winnie around because she was a "natural growing child" and that she wasen't imortal. He probably also thinks that she understands the importance of the spring and that she needs to keep the secret safe.
On chapter 14 page 68 I made an inference. When Mae said "You'll sleep first-rate on the sofa here." My inference was the sofa would be pretty bad(e.i rips maybe a stench). I was right.
Olga Kiev say:
I had a connection in the begining of chapter 12, where it said "the sky was a ragged blaze of red, pink, and orange. I have seen the sky like this many times when the sun is going down. This happens when it's around 4 or 5 o'clock pm.
chapter 12:
on page 60 I visualized
Quote: The sky was a ragged blaze of red, pink and orange
I could visualize the sky with so manny different colors.
Chapter 13:
On page 66 I made a prediction
Quote: I know where they have taken the little girl
My prediction is that he going to tell them about the water and how they are everlasting.
In Chapter 11 I had a question when Winnie had to spend the night in the a dirty, peculiar house. On page 52 she said that this house was comfortable and she was charmed but now, she thinks it is dirty and unusual.I think it's because she is now scared.
Olga Kiev says:
I had a prediction where Jesse said that they could get married even. I predict that they will get married later in the book.
On page 60, Chapter 12 I could really visualize the sky ragged with red, pink, orange spilled from a paint box.
Chapter 11:
On page 56, I had a question about why they were having pancakes for dinner. I inferred that maybe it was because they didn't have anything else to eat because they were poor.
Chapter 12:
At the end of the chapter on page 65, I had a question about who stole the horse. I thought that maybe it was the man in the yellow suit but i wan't sure.
Chapter 13:
I had a question about why the man in the yellow suit stole the Tuck's horse. If he had gotten along so well walking so far why would he take it now. I thought that maybe he just wanted to get to the Foster's house quicker.
Chapter 14:
I could visualize all of the Tucks coming down the creaky stairs and trying to comfort Winnie. I could imagine them all in their old gowns and night shirts.

I had a connection where it said "as long as there was food to eat, there was no conversation. All the time, I'm trying to gulp down the delicious nodles that are on my plate, and when my parentssk me how my day was, I either keep stuffing pasta into my mouth, or start talking about my day when I haven't yet swallowed my pasta. It usually ends withmy parents screaming, "CHEW WITH YOUR MOUTH CLOSED!!"

#4 i thought it was important that winnie did not mention that the MIYS(man in yellow siut)was looking for a mystery person.......

when I read the part about how as long as there was food to eat there was no conversation, I thought about how every night when my family eats dinner together it's the soung of slurping, crunching, or chewing what's ever on our plates and the occasional "how was your day?" and it's response.
on chapter 12 I'm infering that when miles says "somebody stole our horse" it's probably going to be the only other person we know of in the story that knows where the tucks' live other than themselves and winnie, the man in the yellow suit.
boblee says in chapter 20 i made a connection with mae that see was furustrated. i can also get furustrated.
boblee says in chapter 21 i had a question about what borne meant?
boblee says in chapter 22 i made an inference that winnie wants to stay with the tucks.
boblee says in chapter 24 i mad an inference that winnie did not want to leave. see looked depresed in my mind.
Chapter 11 page 56:
I had a question to the first sentence. Why where they eating what we would be eating for breakfast? Pancakes, bacon, bread and applesauce are what people eat for breakfast, not dinner.
On page 60, i had a connection in the 1'st paragraph. Once, when i was going to china. i had to wake up at 4:30 in the morning to get to the plane! I looked out side and saw that the sky was very dull but light was pokeing thru.
chapter 13 first sentence.
I had inferred that that the man in the yellow suit was spying on the tucks and fallowed them to their home and stoll their horse.
On chapter 14 page 69 i could see all the tucks talking to Winnie one by one except Miles to sooth her.
